This traditional stone built house is situated in a most charming spot by a gorgeous bay on the coast. The house is set in a vineyard; on one side of this are vineyards, on the other the sea. They say in Croatia that the best wines come from the grapes that have a view of the sea! Certainly the local wine here is very palatable. The house is approached from the main road via an unmade track of about 900m and has a most a beautiful situation.
Trstenik, a lovely little fishing village, is located 2km from the house; it has a reasonable range of food shops, and a market, as well as café bars and restaurants, which specialise in fresh fish and grilled meat dishes. Trstenik also has boat, windsurfing and diving hire. From Prapratna (30km away) there is a ferry to the island of Mljet (about an hour’s journey) where you can find one of Croatia’s best National Parks. Mljet is known for its two beautiful lakes; on an island on the larger of these is a magnificent Benedictine monastery. Travelling beyond Trstenik for about 25km is the town of Orebic, which has an hourly connection by ferry to the island of Korcula which is a charming town and is reputed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo.

DETAILS OF ACCOMMODATION

From the vineyard you enter through a gate onto a terrace in front of the house. Inside, the house has been simply furnished. From the front door you enter directly into the main room of the house: an open-plan living room: to the left is a kitchen/breakfast area with a range of fitted cupboard, cooker and oven , to the right is the sitting room with comfortable seating in front of an open fireplace.
The room is divided by the stairs. These rise to the first floor where there are two twin bedrooms both with air-conditioning and views over the vineyards. The bedrooms share a small central bathroom/WC off the landing. The beach is about 15m from the house.

Getting there: Sunday arrival at Dubrovnik. Drive 1 hour 30 minutes.
