If you can bear to tear yourself away, Alghero is just a short drive and is particularly renowned for its easy-going ambiance, its lively trattorie and cafés lining the seafront and the old town’s cobbled streets. There is also a choice of fine sandy beaches along the bay, with clear, shallow water and a spectacular coastline.
